This project had its origins in a telephone conversation I had with my oldest daughter, Cora Nielsen Kelly, in Spring 2010. In it I said that someday I wanted to put on a set of performances featuring my choral music for which I picked the singers. At her urging I set about doing just that. I worked hard to get the finest singers for the chorus, as well as the best possible conductor, mezzo-soprano, pianist and string players. The first result was a great group of musicians who approached their task with dedication, intelligence and complete professionalism. The concerts performed and recorded in October 2011 were the culmination of our efforts. The second result was a recording made during the concerts, engineered and mastered by my fellow composer and editor, graphics designer, producer of this CD and friend, Dennis Bathory-Kitsz. The recording, called Voices of October: Choral and Vocal Music of Erik Nielsen, is now available. Here's one of the selections, Which?
